Why Waymaker?
For as long as she can remember, owner Jeana Poole has loved to travel. For the first 18 years of her life, she only traveled in her home state of Montana and neighboring North Dakota. Being a farmer's daughter does not lend itself to traveling far and wide. But then she went to college in Oklahoma and participated in a study abroad program that took her to China, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii. It was just as awesome as you think it sounds.
She also regularly took road trips to Colorado, Nebraska, Memphis, Dallas, Nashville and many spots in-between. After graduation, she and her husband moved to Colorado and began exploring the beauty the Centennial state has to offer. Not to mention yearly trips back to Montana and her husband's native Oregon. They traveled to Europe and Costa Rica before having kids and decided they wanted to keep traveling after they came along. As one of their friends so wisely said, "Parenting is hard no matter where you are. Why not be in a beautiful place, exploring new things while doing it?"
It was during their travels that they realized there weren't a ton of resources out there for families who wanted to travel semi-adventurously. Jeana would spend days researching experiences that would work for adults and kids. She would scour Pinterest and blogs and Instagram accounts, looking for ideas. She would even ask friends if they knew of people who had traveled to these locations and if they could connect them to ask questions.
Before long, her passion for searching for low cost airfare and fun things to do in different places led her to giving friends advice and detailed plans and copious amounts of airfare emails. And when her part-time job ceased to be, she decided to take her skills and passion and create Waymaker Journeys.
Waymaker Journeys is committed to helping you plan the trip you've always dreamed about. Whether that is a trip of a lifetime to Australia or a weekend getaway to the Rocky Mountains, we want to make sure you have fun doing the things you want to do.
